Code of Conduct: Families/Coaches/ Athletes
NWDD wants to uphold the highest standards, in the dugout and stands, on the field and in the community. More importantly, if you are a NW Diamond Dawg you are always representing DawgNation. Items to remember:
- NWDD sets a high level of integrity both on and off the field.
- Athletes – Are reliable, communicative, have a positive attitude, selfless, and hardworking. Therefore, they should not communicate negatively with the competition, fans, and umpires.
- Families and fans – Are to be supportive, positive role models, focused on the effort and growth, respectful of boundaries (let the coaches coach), do not hang around the dugout, encourage resilience, and last but not least…, they should not communicate negatively with the competition, fans, and umpires.
- Coaches: Our coaches come from a wide variety of high-level backgrounds both on and off the field. Our coaches are here to help our athletes develop on the field and in life. Our coaches will set an example.
The NWDD Academy Process:
NWDD places a large emphasis on development vs. results. Therefore you will likely see multiple teams practicing together, coaches from other teams to help implement different skillsets (pitching or catching as example), and in program scrimmages. This philosophy allows us to maximize our program development. Therefore, NWDD will actively float athletes to different teams. We believe in providing all of our athletes opportunities at all levels. Keep in mind that the athlete needs to earn these opportunities.
Athlete Health:
Nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of our athletes. From the beginning of our seasons we will be closely managing arm care health. Therefore, pitchers will be on short pitch counts early in the season. Both pitchers and catchers will be expected to run after games during the season. These runs will help with muscle soreness by flushing lactic acid out of the body.
